About Us

Acontea is not an ordinary firm, even though we offer everything related to accounting. We are not a passive receiver of bookkeeping materials that spits out numbers customers rarely understand. For the average entrepreneur, an income statement and balance sheet might as well be written in Egyptian hieroglyphs, and instead of just delivering a service that is legally required, we ensure to create actual customer value. Examples of what we have done:

  • Customized monthly reports that a hairdresser/engineer/designer can actually understand and use as decision-making tools.
  • Assisted a Frenchman with the tax implications of selling local assets and moving to Sweden.
  • Adjusted reports from Swedish accounting so that the client's American parent company can incorporate the figures into their books.
  • Calculated the value of a larger farm that has expanded over decades and would be divided among heirs.
  • Advised a client on various third-party solutions and led the transition to a new project system.
  • Led the transition from Swedish accounting standards to IFRS for a client.
  • Conducted financial due diligence prior to the purchase of a company.
  • Been on the receiving side of financial due diligence when a client sold a company, including to a publicly listed owner.
  • Presented figures to a bank officer when a client sought larger loans for development projects.

In addition, we handle everything from ongoing bookkeeping, payroll management, tax declarations, tax advisory, company formation, and more.

About the Role

Every question we handle is not advanced (regular accounting constitutes the majority of our work), but we are the firm that solves the client's problems. This involves a lot of ad hoc questions that require the ability to find information, critical thinking, and high service awareness.

We work from home (one owner lives in the USA) and maintain close contact with clients via phone and online meetings. The person we are looking for should be based in the Stockholm area and have the ability to attend physical client meetings when necessary, even though this happens rarely. Thus, this is practically a remote job.

About You

You should:

  • Have deep knowledge of the entire accounting process and be able to lead a year-end closing process independently.
  • Find solutions to problems.
  • Deliver exceptional service.
  • Proactively manage a client from onboarding onwards.
  • Plan and allocate tasks.

It is an advantage if you have sales experience. Over time, we would like to see you take over the CEO role for our growing business.

We prioritize finding the right person. If this person wishes to work part-time instead (at least 50%), we can accommodate that.
